Her groundbreaking win came at UFC Louisville on Saturday, June 8, where she defeated Brazil’s Rayanne Amanda dos Santos by split decision in a thrilling three-round bout.

Born in Budhana village, Muzaffarnagar, Puja Tomar began her martial arts journey as a way to protect her family after her father’s passing when she was just 12 years old. She initially trained in karate and kickboxing, later transitioning to MMA. Tomar’s dedication and skill in the sport led her to become a former national Wushu champion and compete in prestigious leagues such as Matrix Fight Night and One Championship before securing her UFC contract last year.

Her journey to the UFC marks a significant milestone for Indian MMA, inspiring young girls across the country to pursue their dreams in combat sports.

After her historic UFC victory, Puja Tomar expressed her determination to continue rising in the sport and achieve the pinnacle of becoming a UFC champion. She dedicated her win to her mother, emphasizing the support and encouragement she received throughout her career.
