Report: Tottenham are battling four German clubs for £22m winger
According to the print edition of Bild (as relayed by Sport Witness), the race for Stuttgart star Chris Fuhrich is now heating up, with Tottenham battling a whole host of Bundesliga sides for the wide-man’s signature.
Tottenham are interested in Chris Fuhrich
Fuhrich had an impressive 2023-24 campaign for Stuttgart, with 15 goal contributions in 34 league matches, helping his side secure a second-place finish.
Tottenham’s interest in the attacker came to light at the start of this week when Christian Falk revealed that the North London side are prepared to battle Bayern Munich for the player.
A couple of days ago, CaughtOffside also credited the Lilywhites with an interest in the 26-year-old and suggested that they could also have competition to contend with from London rivals, Chelsea.
Competition heating up for Chris Fuhrich
Bild have now become the latest out to report on Spurs’ pursuit of Fuhrich, stating that they are now competing with a host of German sides of the player.
Apart from Bayern, the likes of Bayer Leverkusen, RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund are also thought to be monitoring the winger’s situation.
It is said that Ange Postecoglou’s side have already made contact over a summer deal for the German international, who has a release clause of €26m (£21.9m) in his contract.
Spurs Web Opinion
I can understand why so many clubs are keen on Fuhrich as his modest release clause may make him quite an attractive option for many sides.
However, it remains to be seen if he will give up Champions League football with Stuttgart next season to come to Spurs, who will play in the Europa League.
One risk which always happens during every tournament is the prospect of increased competition in a player, a solid showing for Germany at Euro 2024 could see a number of other clubs come out of the woodwork to look to sign Fuhrich.
While Spurs have already brought in compatriot Timo Werner on loan, there is still an urgency for another quality winger to arrive before the window closes and hopefully raise some funds from the sale of Bryan Gil.
