I bought a caravan where everything was brown and gave it the best cheap as chips makeover – it now looks brand new
A SAVVY woman has been inundated with praise after revealing how she gave her dated caravan a super modern and stylish makeover on a budget.
Orla explained how she bought a caravan but “everything was brown,” so she set to work brightening it up for as cheap as possible.
In a clip to TikTok (@you_can_do_it_yourself), she begins by revealing what the caravan looked before the makeover – and it’s fair to say it was in desperate need of a pop of colour.
She then offers her social media users a glimpse into the “quick and easy” way she transformed it – starting with a pair of velvet curtains which she uses to cover the tired-looking seat covers.
“Curtains are cheaper than buying material by the metre,” she explains.
Feels like a new caravan..so much brighter and all done as cheap as chips!

Orla goes on to advise cutting them one inch wider to the hem and helpfully points out there’s no sewing needed, before she simply uses an iron-on hemming web to cover the seats.
“3.6mm plywood and staple gun needed,” she adds.
The DIY whizz points out that it doesn’t need to be perfect because the seam is at the back so you can’t see it anyway.
Moving on, she they notes how she stuck a grey and white marble-effect back splash behind the cooker, DC fix to the table and accessorised with matching geometric print cushions and a rug.
Giving a tour of the finished look, she enthuses: “So happy!

It wasn’t long before the post was flooded with comments from very impressed social media users, with many quick to commend Orla on the stunning makeover.
“Absolutely amazing transformation,” enthused one social media user.
A second commented: “So much better. It’s the small things that makes a huge difference!”
WHERE TO GET THE BEST SPACE-SAVING STORAGE
A TikToker user revealed the “viral IKEA bread bin hack” they use to add more overhead storage space in their caravan while on the road.
They shared clips of the bread bin drilled upside down into part of the van and opened it to show it held things perfectly well.
“I didn’t want anything big, or bulky, or expensive so this IKEA was the perfect size and price!” they said.
The bread bin used in the video is from the Swedish retailer and costs £19 but Tesco sell a dupe for £15, and The Range are flogging one for £19.99.
