2024 Emmy nominations ballot: 1,658 performers vie for your consideration (that’s 770 fewer than last year)
Emmy voters in the TV academy’s Performers and Casting branches will be filling out their nominations ballots over the next 11 days. The task ahead of these 2,000 members will be much less challenging compared to last year since the total number of performers they have to consider decreased by 32% to 1,658. For comparison, there was only a 13% drop (2,800 to 2,428) between 2022 and 2023.
In 2020, the Emmys introduced a sliding scale of nominees based on each category’s submission total. This time, there will be five nominees in the comedy lead and drama guest categories, six in comedy supporting, comedy guest, and drama lead, and seven in drama supporting. For movies and limited series, there will be five for lead and seven for supporting.
The performers on this year’s ballot are entered across 16 races that encompass continuing comedies and dramas, telefilms, and limited series. Like members of all the other branches, these voters must also consider the 554 shows submitted across 11 program categories.
