Albany man arrested for felony drug possession
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- Police arrested an Albany man for felony drug possession during a traffic stop for unspecified traffic violations. Police said Cornell Thorpe, 47, allegedly had both cocaine and fentanyl in his possession during the traffic stop, leading to his arrest.
Charges
- Three counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
- One count of fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
- One count of second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia
- A traffic violation
According to police, Thrope had roughly 31 grams of cocaine and 170 bags of fentanyl, which amounts to five grams. Police also said the drugs were both intended for distribution based on the quantity and dozens of plastic capsules that are commonly used for narcotics packaging.
Thorpe was transported to Albany County Jail as a pre-arraign detainee. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court on Friday.
