Maui opposes US military plan to build telescopes on Haleakala volcano

HONOLULU, Hawaii: A U.S. military proposal to build new telescopes on the Haleakala volcano summit has been rejected by local officials on the Hawaiian island of Maui this week.

This is the latest observatory project that the island residents have rejected.
