With the current tenure of Chief Manoj Pande drawing to a close, the Centre has designated Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi as the upcoming Chief of Army Staff, effective from June 30, 2024. Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi, born on July 1, 1964, commenced his military service upon commissioning into the Infantry (Jammu & Kashmir Rifles) branch of the Indian Army on December 15, 1984.
