LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) - The National Hurricane Center has issued its first Tropical Outlook of the season for showers and storms in the eastern Gulf of Mexico.
This system should continue a northeastward track over Florida before emerging into the Atlantic Ocean. Heavy storms and flash flooding are likely across much of the peninsula. There is a 20% chance for tropical development over the next 7 days.
This is NOT a threat to Acadiana and will remain well east of our location throughout its lifespan.
The first name on the list this year is Alberto.
