42 & 17-year-old accused of violent Whitehall assault

WHITEHALL, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A 42-year-old woman and 17-year-old were arrested in connection to a violent assault that happened in Whitehall, according to New York State Police. Jessica Cleavland, 42, Whitehall, and the 17-year-old, both face multiple charges.

According to State Police, on Thursday, May 30, troopers responded to a home in Whitehall for reports of an assault in progress. When they arrived, troopers say they found a victim who was seriously injured.

Following an investigation, police determined Cleavland, the 17-year-old, and a third suspect, identified as Dylan Scoville, came to the victim's property uninvited. Police say the victim is known to the suspects, felt threatened by them, and fled into their [the victim's] home.

Police say the suspects followed the victim into the home by forcing entry and violently assaulted them before fleeing the scene. The victim suffered what are believed to be serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police later located Cleavland at her Whitehall home and arrested her. The 17-year-old was found walking in the area of State Route 4 in Whitehall and was also arrested. Both were processed by Granville State Police and were taken to the Washington County Correctional Facility to await arraignment.

Charges:

  • First-degree burglary
  • First-degree gang assault
  • Fourth-degree criminal possession in the fourth-degree

Scoville has yet to be found, and the Whitehall Town Court has issued an arrest warrant. Police say Scoville was arrested for rape in May and should be considered dangerous. Anyone with information on Scoville is asked to contact the State Police at (518) 457-6811.
