Aakash Chopra praises Hardik Pandya for winning over fans with great performances in the T20 World Cup

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra commended Hardik Pandya for winning over fans with his great performances in the T20 World Cup 2024.

Pandya faced a lot of criticism from fans and experts alike during the IPL 2024 season. After becoming the captain for the Mumbai Indians by replacing Rohit Sharma, Pandya had a dismal season which saw his side finish rock-bottom on the IPL table with only 4 wins in 14 matches.

However, he managed to turn the tide with his great performances on the international stage. In India’s opening match of the tournament against Ireland, Pandya took 3 wickets and only gave away 27 runs in his quota of 4 overs as India bowled out Ireland for only 96 runs. Then, against Pakistan he took the crucial wickets of Fakhar Zaman and Shadab Khan and proved to be crucial to India’s victory against their arch-rivals.

Chopra highlighted how the crowd’s sentiment changed towards Pandya during the match.

“People booed him so much, and how life changes. I saw the whole crowd shouting ‘Hardik, Hardik’ and a lot of love for him. Cricket is a great leveler. If you perform well, people who were abusing you will also praise you. They will pray for your success,” said Chopra on his YouTube channel.

If Pandya keeps on giving such great performances then not only would he prove all his doubters wrong but would also become a monumental part of India’s success in the tournament.
