Best wine bars in and around Austin, according to KXAN viewers

In honor of National Wine Day in May, we asked our viewers what their favorite Austin area wine bars are.

AUSTIN (KXAN) -- In honor of National Wine Day last month, we asked our viewers what their favorite Austin area wine bars are.

There are over 100 wineries and vineyards in the Texas Hill Country, but if you don't want to make as far of a trip for a glass of bubbly, there are some wine bar options within and close to the Capital City. Below is a list of places KXAN viewers recommended over social media.

Rosie's Wine Bar

Rosie's is a wine bar located in downtown Austin featuring a rotating menu of wine from all over the world, with a focus on natural wines. It's located at 1130 West Sixth Street, Austin. Hours are Monday-Friday 3 p.m. - midnight, Saturday 12 p.m. - 1 a.m., and Sunday 12-10 p.m.

Wink Restaurant & Wine Bar

Wink Restaurant & Wine Bar -- Austin's "original farm-to-table gourmet restaurant" -- is located at 1014 North Lamar Blvd, Suite E, in Austin. It's open Wednesday-Friday from 5-11 p.m. and Saturday from 5:30-11 p.m. and closed Sunday-Tuesday.

Cape Bottle Room

Cape Bottle Room in east Austin is a tasting room, bottle shop and wholesale distributor featuring South African wines, with a space that offers wine education and community events, according to its website.

It's located at 500 San Marcos St, Suite 102, Austin. Hours are Monday-Friday 2-10 p.m., Saturday 12-10 p.m. and Sunday 2-8 p.m.

Golden Hour Cafe & Wine Bar

Golden Hour is a cafe and bottle shop "specializing in natural, minimal intervention wines, specialty coffee, and seasonal, European influenced cooking," according to its website. It's located at 7731 Menchaca Road, Suite 100 in Austin.

Hours are Monday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday-Friday 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Three Legged Goat

Several commenters recommended the Three Legged Goat in Pflugerville. It's located at 200 E Pecan St # 5 in Pflugerville. The hours are Wednesday and Thursday 4-10 p.m., Friday 4 p.m. - 12 a.m., Saturday 12 p.m. - 12 a.m., and Sunday 12-8 p.m. It's closed Monday and Tuesday.

High Country Market Bistro & GastroPub

This specialty market and cafe in Round Rock offers wine, beer and spirits, and food like pizza, burgers, sandwiches and other bar food all day.

High Country Market Bistro & GastroPub is located at 3701 Gattis School Rd in Round Rock. Its hours are Monday-Friday 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Empresario Wines

A little less than an hour's drive north of Austin in Bell County is Empresario Wines, located at 7 N Main St Suite A, Salado. It's a 100% Texas wine-tasting room whose owner is originally from Pflugerville. Hours are Wednesday 3-7 p.m., Thursday-Saturday 12-7 p.m., and Sunday 12-5 p.m. It's closed Monday and Tuesday.

The Thirsty Mule

Also north of Austin is the Thirsty Mule Winery & Vineyard in Liberty Hill. It features its own exclusive wines made from Texas and California grapes. They offer wine by the glass and tastings by the bottle. Plus, it shares a site with Schitz Creek Distillery/Brewery.

It's located at 101 Co Rd 257, Liberty Hill. Hours are Wednesday-Thursday 11:30 a.m. - 6 p.m., Friday-Saturday 11 a.m. - 7 p.m., and Sunday 12-6 p.m. Closed Monday and Tuesday.

Patio Dolcetto

Driving the opposite way on I-35, you'll find Patio Dolcetto. It's a two-level wine bar with a garden patio and artisan gallery near downtown San Marcos. They have an expansive menu consisting of wines of all varieties, cocktails and martinis, ciders and beers, plus food like pizzas and other bar bites.

Hours are Monday-Thursday 4-11 p.m., Friday and Saturday 4 p.m. to midnight, and Sunday 12-10 p.m. All guests must be 21+.

Water 2 Wine Buda

Water 2 Wine Buda is located at 304 S Main St #103, Buda. According to its website, Water 2 Wine is a winery where all of its wines are "blended, oaked and fermented on site."

The winery offers tastings, or you can buy a bottle or make your own "batch" with a personalized wine label. Their hours are Tuesday and Wednesday 12-8 p.m., Thursday-Saturday 12-10 p.m., and Sunday 12-8 p.m. They are closed on Mondays.
