Off the Beaten Path: Sculpture at The Mount
LENOX, Mass. (NEWS10) - Nestled away in Berkshire County, you’ll find the former home of well-known American author, Edith Wharton. The Mount is a historic house museum and cultural center with a variety of tours, programs, and events for the public.
From June 2 - October 20, the property is hosting "Sculpture at the Mount 2024." Twenty-four large-scale sculptures are located throughout the property as part of the 10th annual free event.
One visitor said, "The sculptures are beautifully situated in a place that shows off their material and what they’re trying to say. It’s really well done.”
A sculpture map is available to direct you on a free self-guided tour. A QR code is located on each piece, allowing visitors to hear recordings of artist statements.
On June 23 from 3 - 5 p.m., you can meet the artists behind this year's sculptures. Visitors can walk the grounds and hear the artists share their stories and their visions next to their pieces. For more details on their upcoming programing, including their Summer Music Series, visit their website.
The Mount is located at 2 Plunkett Street in Lenox. The grounds are open to the public, seven days a week, from dawn to dusk.
