Two arrested in Mechanicville on robbery, assault charges

MECHANICVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Mechanicville Police Department reported that two people have been arrested in connection to a robbery investigation. Jordan Barton, 20, of Kingston, and Aiden Hungerschafer, 18, of Schenectady, are both facing numerous charges.

On June 7 at 9 p.m., police responded to Park and Central Avenues in Mechanicville for the report of a robbery in progress. Upon arrival, officers found an injured young victim who claimed to have been assaulted by two men.

According to police, the suspects allegedly stole money from the victim before fleeing the area. Barton and Hungerschafer were identified as suspects, and officers located their vehicle shortly thereafter.

Police executed a search warrant on the car and found the stolen money, resulting in Barton and Hungerschafer being taken into custody. They now face the following charges:

  • Second-degree robbery
  • Second-degree assault
  • Fourth-degree grand larceny
  • Endangering the welfare of a child
  • Criminal possession of stolen property

Barton and Hungerschafer were both arraigned in the Mechanicville City Court. Barton was remanded to the Saratoga County Jail, while Hungerschafer had multiple outstanding local warrants and was turned over to the custody of those respective agencies, according to Mechanicville Police.
