AN iconic Coronation Street couple are embroiled in a shock split amid a family cheating shock.

ITV fans were likely left stunned that the pair appeared to call time on their romance during Monday’s visit to Coronation Street after being on and off for more than 20 years.

Nick Tilsley and Leanne Battersby’s relationship appeared to have well and truly run it’s course after she decided to pack her bags and leave their family home.

Whilst she refused to brand it a ‘split’, Leanne made it clear that she was keen for some time away from Nick after he forced her to make a decision about their future together.

At the start of the episode, Nick was left reeling when it emerged that Leanne had told The Institute leader Toyah’s deepest secret – she buried her own secret child after it died around 20 years ago.

Rowan had then used this information to his own advantage and Nick was left sickened that Leanne would reveal such a deep secret in favour of furthering herself within his Insitute.

Leanne’s behaviour has grown increasingly erratic over the last few weeks after she opted to head on a retreat with Rowan and The Institute.

It forced Nick to call her out as he insisted that she needed to make a decision whether to commit to him and cut Rowan off or whether she wanted to remain practising her uploading and downloading with him.

In a shock twist, Nick was left floored when he returned home to see Leanne with two bags as it became instantly clear that she had decided to walk out on him.

As Nick apologised for making the ultimatum, Leanne remained even more defiant that things weren’t working between the pair.

She said to him: “It is all this constant negativity, it is becoming suffocating.”

Nick insisted he was worried about her involvements with Rowan’s group before she told him he was “paranoid” as she headed outside to meet a waiting Rowan by the car.

Tearful, she turned to Rowan and said: “Thanks so much for doing this.”

Rowan told her that she was being controlled by Nick before she gave him a loving hug and said: “I’m so grateful to have you as part of my life.”

Nick looked on solemnly as he watched his long-term love leave in the car with her ‘new man’.

Later, as Toyah came over, Nick revealed to her that his relationship with her sister was crumbling as he remained unsure as to their current state.

Amid a slew of stolen glances, Nick and Toyah confided in one another as they thanked each other for being there for one another.

It wasn’t long before Nick found himself kissing his own sister-in-law, a mere hours after Leanne had walked off.

Pulling away, they looked at each other once again before Toyah launched into another kiss.

Amid the rising passion, they quickly pulled away from one another after being left startled as Sam walked through the door.

Will Nick and Toyah continue with their romance going forward?

And is Nick and Leanne’s marriage over for good?

Coronation Street's shock exits 2024

Corrie has said goodbye to several cast members this year. Let's break down who's left the famous soap:

Eliza Woodrow (Savannah Kunyo) has said farewell to Corrie to start a new life in Germany.

The youngster moved to live with her dad Dom Everett, who went back on the £10,000 bribe Eliza’s grandfather Stu had offered to keep him out of her life.

Paul Foreman will bow out of the soap this summer when he loses his fight with motor neurone disease (MND) in tragic scenes.

After being diagnosed last year, the fan favourite, portrayed by Peter Ash, was devastated to learn he only had months left to live.

Viewers know he is planning to take his own life to end his suffering.

Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) departed the cobbles after being offered the opportunity of a lifetime to study in America.

Though she struggled to decide with her stepdad Paul’s impending death from MND, she was convinced she had to live her life to the full.

Simon Barlow (Alex Bain) has struggled with the sudden departure of his father Peter from the cobbles.

The Weatherfield legend left his family and loved ones behind on Boxing Day, 2023, when his wife Carla Connor encouraged him to travel around the world with a friend.

Simon’s been on a downward spiral ever since and his exit could end in tragedy.

Alya Nazir is set to leave the cobbles as actress Sair Khan prepares to go on maternity leave ahead of the birth of her first child.

It looks likely she’ll be heading to Dublin after securing a lucrative new job, leaving her colleague and fling Adam Barlow behind.

Show stalwart Eileen Grimshaw is taking a break to star in the Sister Act The Musical UK tour.

She’s had to leave the Street immediately after her son Jason broke his back after falling off a moped in Asia. She will be back filming in May once her dates on the tour come to an end.
