THE BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) -- Felix Herrera Garcia pleaded guilty to federal narcotic offenses in connection to the poisoning of four children at a day care center in the Bronx on Sept. 15, 2023, Bronx County District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced on Monday.
The children, all under the age of 3, were seriously injured after being poisoned by fentanyl, according to Clark. One of the children, 1-year-old Nicholas Dominici, died from the poisoning.
A second defendant, Renny Antonio Parra Paredes pleaded guilty on May 23, to conspiring to distribute narcotics, according to prosecutors.
Garcia and Paredes operated an illegal fentanyl operation out of the day care center, prosecutors said. At times, there were large quantities of fentanyl, including over 10 kilograms of narcotics hidden inside the day care.
The narcotics were stored inside secret compartments, or trap doors, located beneath the floor of the playroom.
