Four people were injured in a fiery head-on crash in Waterbury over the weekend.

The crash was reported Saturday just after 11:30 p.m. in the 3000 block of North Main Street where emergency crews responded and found that a 2017 Infiniti and 2018 Mercedes Benz were involved in a head-on collision, according to Lt. Ryan Bessette of the Waterbury Police Department.

The occupants of both vehicles were able to escape on their own before the front end of the Infiniti caught on fire, Bessette said. Members of the Waterbury Fire Department put out the blaze.

According to Bessette, a 27-year-old Waterbury man who was driving the Infiniti was taken to an area hospital.

A 46-year-old woman who was driving the Mercedes Benz and two passengers, 63 and 36 years old, all from New York, were also taken to an area hospital.

All four people were listed in stable condition, having suffered injuries not considered life-threatening, Bessette said.

The crash is being investigated by the police department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit.
