Giovani Lo Celso is attracting interest ahead of the summer window

Sky Sports are reporting that former club Real Betis have shown the most concrete interest in the midfielder ahead of the summer transfer window opening.

Lo Celso is said to be not desperate to leave the North Londoners, but would not be against departing if it meant regular first team football elsewhere.

The 28-year-old struggled to get a consistent run in Ange Postecoglou’s side last season having made just four starts in the Premier League (transfermarkt).

A return to Real Betis could be on the cards for the midfielder

The report claims that Aston Villa are also keen on a deal for Lo Celso with the Champions League qualifiers looking to sign an attacking midfielder in preparation for the season ahead.

Villa boss Unai Emery is a fan of Lo Celso, having worked with the player during his two loans spells at Villarreal while the Spaniard was in charge of the Yellow Submarine.

Lo Celso’s unfortunate luck with muscular injuries have hampered his ability to string together a consistent run of appearances to really put his hand up to claim a regular starting place.

Three separate injuries really impacted his chance to play his way into the team and despite James Maddison‘s indifferent form following the return from his ankle injury, he still failed to get regular starts.

A move to La Liga, where he has played his best football could be the best option for all parties this summer and allow Spurs to at least recoup some form of transfer fee ahead of him being able to agree a pre-contract deal with an overseas club from January 1st.
