Report: Spurs player is ‘more than willing’ to join Aston Villa this summer

Giovani Lo Celso could be on the move this summer, but he might not have to relocate very far. That’s because Aston Villa are keen on signing the Argentine, and he is happy to make that switch, too.

Until recently, it looked very likely that Lo Celso would be returning to Spain for the next step in his career.

Having spent the last two seasons on loan with Villarreal, the midfielder was given another chance at Spurs by Ange Postecoglou. But, he managed just two goals and two assists in 595 minutes of football this season (Transfermarkt).

Lo Celso is now heading into the final year of his contract, and La Liga outfit Real Betis have made no secret of their desire to bring the Argentinian playmaker back to the club where he made his name. In fact, official meetings are thought to have taken place already (El Mira).

However, more recently, Aston Villa have emerged as a contender to sign Lo Celso (The Sun), with Unai Emery looking to be reunited with the player he coached during his time at Villarreal.

Now, the latest on the matter comes from Super Deporte (via Sport Witness), with a suggestion that Lo Celso would be interested in joining the Premier League side.

It is said the Spurs man would be “more than willing” to team up with Emery again, and the idea of relocating from London to Birmingham for the move would not be an issue.

Apparently, Lo Celso is keen to find a new project where he can fit in, and he is very open to the idea of being with his former manager, while also allowing him to remain in England.

Annoyingly I do think Lo Celso would fit in well at Villa, and it would be a shame to see him flourish at another Premier League club. But, it’s just how it is, and he doesn’t really have much to offer Spurs anymore, so we should let him go regardless of the destination.
