Ashfields Grill 4 Garlic and Herb Chicken Kebabs 320g have now been removed from display.

It comes after a “labelling error” saw the incorrect use-by date printed on packaging.

The recall items were dated July 9 and Aldi is offering affected shoppers a full refund.

An Aldi spokesperson confirmed: “As a precautionary measure, our supplier is recalling Ashfields Grill 4 Garlic & Herb Chicken
Kebabs 320g because a small number of products have had the incorrect use by date applied of July 9.

“No other products are affected.

“Customers are asked to return this product to their nearest store, where a full refund will be given.”

A statement from food.gov.uk read: “Aldi is recalling Ashfields Grill 4 Garlic & Herb Chicken Kebabs because of a labelling error which shows an incorrect use-by date, making the product unsafe to eat.”

They advised customers “do not eat” the product and return it to the store from which they bought it.

It follows an urgent recall by fellow superstore titan Tesco yesterday.

The supermarket warned shoppers two chocolate bars had been pulled from the shelves over fears nut allergy suffers could be at risk.

Anyone who purchased the Tesco Dreamy Caramel Chocolate Bars Multipack, 6 x 40g, has been warned there is a risk of peanuts not being listed an ingredient due to a “mispack”.

This makes them a risk to anyone with a peanut allergy.

The Tesco Nutty Nougat Caramel Chocolate Bars Multipack, 6 x 40g, have also been recalled for the same issue.

A Tesco spokesperson stated: “There is a risk of peanuts not being declared as an ingredient in the product.

“This poses a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to peanuts.”

The recall best before date for the Nutty Nougat Caramel Chocolate Bars Multipack is February 28, 2025.

Meanwhile, the recall best before dates on the Dreamy Caramel Chocolate Bars Multipack are January 31, 2025 and February 28, 2025.

Tesco advised customers “do not consume” and return the product to their stores to be given a full refund.

The industry giant also stated no receipt would be required.

Your product recall rights

Product recalls are an important means of protecting consumers from dangerous goods.

As a general rule, if a recall involves a branded product, the manufacturer would usually have lead responsibility for the recall action.

But it’s often left up to supermarkets to notify customers when products could put them at risk.

If you are concerned about the safety of a product you own, always check the manufacturer’s website to see if a safety notice has been issued.

When it comes to appliances, rather than just food items, the onus is usually on you – the customer – to register the appliance with the manufacturer as if you don’t there is no way of contacting you to tell you about a fault.

If you become aware that an item you own has been recalled or has any safety noticed issued against it, make sure you follow the instructions given to you by the manufacturer.

They should usually provide you with more information and a contact number on its safety notice.

In some cases, the manufacturer might ask you to return the item for a full refund or arrange for the faulty product to be collected.

You should not be charged for any recall work – such as a repair, replacement or collection of the recalled item.
