Alasdair Gold has said that he would be stunned if Tottenham Hotspur do not make an attempt to sign Conor Gallagher when the transfer window opens.

The speculation linking Gallagher with a move to Spurs has been going strong for a year and it is now intensifying as we edge closer to the summer transfer window.

Tottenham have a long-standing interest in Conor Gallagher

Football Insider suggested last week that Tottenham will launch an offer for the Chelsea star in the opening weeks of the window.

The report asserted that the Lilywhites have remained in close contact with the England international’s entourage regarding a move across London and are ‘firmly in the race’.

The outlet also stated that the Blues need to raise funds before the end of June to ease their PSR situation, which is why an early Gallagher sale is on the cards.

A few days ago, The Athletic reported that Chelsea would be willing to sell their academy graduate to their local rivals if Ange Postecoglou’s side meet their demands.

Alasdair Gold expects Spurs to move for Conor Gallagher

While Gold believes that a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is far from nailed on for Gallagher, the journalist is confident that an approach from Spurs for the player is imminent.

When asked about Tottenham’s pursuit of the midfielder, he told Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast: “Yeah I wouldn’t say it’s cut and dry, but I would be stunned if Spurs don’t make some attempts to try and get involved in this as this month goes on.”

Chelsea would be keen on an early sale to ease their PSR woes and we should know in the first few weeks of the window whether this transfer is on.

My gut feeling is that despite Villa offering Champions League football, Gallagher would be leaning towards a switch to Spurs.

Given the fact that Gallagher is now on international duty with England at Euro 2024, I would expect the rumour mill to continue until after the tournament in Germany comes to an end.
