Celebrate NYS history with self-guided walks in Gloversville
GLOVERSVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Saturday, June 15, and Sunday, June 16, will be New York State (NYS) Path Through History Weekend. Celebrate NYS history with self-guided walks in Gloversville. Participants can pick up paper copies of the walk at several locations and download them online.
The Downtown Gloversville Historic Walk brochure can be found at the following locations:
- CRG offices, 34 W. Fulton St., Gloversville
- Outside the City Clerk’s Office at City Hall, 3 Frontage Road, Gloversville
- Fulton-Montgomery Regional Chamber of Commerce, 2 N. Main St., Gloversville
- Fulton County Visitors Center, 3687 State Highway 30, Broadalbin
Stops on the tour include:
- Palace Diner, 62 S. Main St.
- Former Kingsborough Hotel, 34 S. Main St.
- Historic Four Corners, 2 S. Main St.
- Trail Station Park, West Fulton Street
- Bleecker Street Square, estimated 33 Bleecker St.
- Former Gloversville High School/Estee Park, 90 N. Main St.
- Former City Hall, 44 N. Main St.
- Glove Theatre, 42 N. Main St.
- Schine Memorial Hall, 40 N. Main St.
“Gloversville is filled with history and participants will learn about its connection to two presidents (Teddy Roosevelt and FDR), a Hollywood movie studio head (Samuel Goldwyn who is the “G” in MGM studios), and how the Schine Memorial Hall was once an opera house,” said Jennifer Donovan, Gloversville Downtown Development Specialist (GDDS) at Fulton County Center for Regional Growth.
