According to TEAMtalk, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United have both expressed an interest in swooping for Al-Ittihad winger Jota this summer.

Jota made his name under Ange Postecoglou at Celtic before making the big money to Al-Ittihad last summer, however, the winger has not had the best of times at the Saudi Arabian club.

It has been suggested by TEAMtalk that the Portuguese international is now looking for an exit and that both Tottenham and West Ham are ready to offer him the chance to return to the UK.

The report says that both London clubs are ‘very keen’ on signing Jota after learning that Al-Ittihad are open to letting him leave.

Tottenham and West Ham will have to pay £25m for Jota

The Saudi Pro League club are thought to be looking to recoup the £25m fee that they paid for the attacker, with two unnamed Serie A sides also thought to be huge fans of the player.

However, it is explained that transfers away from Saudi Arabia can be complicated due to tax issues and players will be forced to pay large sums should they leave before completing two years in the country.

It is revealed that Jota can get around this by agreeing to an initial loan move, with the 25-year-old’s agent Jorge Mendes now working hard to find a solution.

Jota scored 28 goals for Celtic across all competitions prior to his move to Saudi in 83 appearances (transfermarkt).

Having signed another squad player in Timo Werner, Tottenham now need to make a game-changing signing in attack that will improve their first eleven.

Jota is simply not that calibre of player, which is why I would be quite surprised if Spurs pushed ahead with a move for the former Celtic man.
