Sam Heughan, Caitríona Balfe & the 'Outlander' Cast Are in Their Taylor Swift Era & There Are Photos To Prove It

0

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour hit Scotland this weekend, and who better to welcome Taylor to Scotland than the cast of Outlander. Sam Heughan, Caitríona Balfe, Sophie Skelton, Richard Rankin, Caitlin O’Ryan, John Bell, Joey Phillips, Izzy Meikle, Charles Vandervaart, Maril Davis, and Lauren Lyle showed up in swift style to represent the cast and shake it off in Edinburgh. Currently, the cast is filming season 8, which will be the final season of the long-running Starz show which celebrates its 10-year anniversary this year. Both Swift and Outlander have extremely passionate and dedicated fans, and the show’s Instagram called this era, #Swiftlander. This might the best time period to visit. “Sing me a song of a Swiftie that’s gone, say good that lass be….” Could Taylor drop the theme song for Outlander season 8? Time will tell, she is the “Tortured Poet,” after all, and the show loves to torture its characters and audience, so seems like the perfect mashup.

Earlier this week on social Heughan shared how excited he was for the concert, joking about wearing his ginger wig to catch Swift’s attention. Heughan and Skelton are both self-professed Swifties, as they revealed last year in an interview at the beginning of season 7.

After the concert, Heughan dropped a few photos, one with the whole cast, and one with John Bell in which they’re both wearing matching Swiftie friendship bracelets. He thanked Davis and a friend for organizing the cast outing. Heughan also posted videos in his story with Skelton and Balfe cast dancing their heads off. And he overlaid the Outlander theme song, when Swift performed “Willow,” a song whose performance looks very much like the Outlander opening credits. Is the Swiftlander era about to begin? Or has it been happening since December 13, 1989?

This time last year, Outlander season 7 premiered at Tribeca Film Festival, and when we asked Heughan what Jamie and Claire’s love song was, he joked it was Taylor Swift’s “Shake it Off.” And one year later, they’re at the Taylor concert. Coincidence? Or was Heughan manifesting this for a whole year? Heughan also revealed that Balfe sings all the time on set, and she confessed, “I don’t know sometimes, it’s just that Radio Balfe, I have no control over it.” Radio Balfe sounds like a great station, wonder if any Taylor Swift bangers will be playing on it now that Balfe’s been Swifted.

Rankin tweeted, “Can’t even with how amazing this was.” Of course, Outlander fans couldn’t have been more excited. One tweeted, “The Royal family of Scotland at Taylor Swift’s show,” with a photo of the cast to go with it. Another fan tweeted a meme about how similar the “Willow” dance was to the show, and the cast realizing it might be about them.

On June 1st, also known as World Outlander Day, the show released the teaser for the second half of season 7, which will be 8 episodes, kicking off with Jamie and Claire returning to Scotland. Outlander returns November 22 on Starz. Until then, be like the cast and listen to Taylor Swift on repeat, since you have 166 days to go until the second half of season 7 returns.
