43 horses dead in Logan County barn fire

BELLEFONTAINE, Ohio (WCMH) -- More than three dozen horses died Saturday afternoon after being trapped in a burning barn in Logan County.

The Richland fire department said authorities were called at 12:18 p.m. about a fire at a barn on 8755 State Route 638 just north of Northwood. Crews were able to extinguish the blaze but confirmed that 43 horses died. One person was treated for burns with the victim's condition unknown at this time.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, per Richland Area Fire Department.
