Report: Spurs are looking at French centre-back who has one year left on his contract

According to a report in L’Equipe, Tottenham Hotspur have expressed an interest in signing Nantes’ defensive starlet Bastien Meupiyou.

Meupiyou has been seen as a potential future star for a while and it was reported by RMC Sport back in February that Tottenham were watching the youngster closely.

The report said that both the Lilywhites and Manchester City are admirers of the 18-year-old and suggested that he was ‘one to watch’ for the summer.

L’Equipe have now said that even though Meupiyou a serious injury in the 2023-24 season which prevented him from getting much game time, that has not dampened Spurs’ interest.

The outlet says that the centre-back is ‘coveted’ by top European sides but only Tottenham are named in the report.

It is explained that the teenager has just a year left on his contract at Stade de la Beaujoire, thus opening the door for a potential cut-price deal this summer.
