Director of Reporters Without Borders passes away

Reporters Without Borders (RSF) has announced the passing of Christophe Deloire, the organization’s director, at the age of 53.

The organization disclosed Deloire’s death on Saturday, June 8, citing cancer as the cause, in Paris, France.

RSF emphasized that Mr. Deloire had been leading the organization for 12 years and had made remarkable contributions to defending journalists’ rights.

According to the organization’s statement, before heading Reporters Without Borders, he was the director of the “Paris Journalism Training Center” (CFJ), one of France’s most significant journalism centers.

Reporters Without Borders described Deloire as “an indefatigable defender of freedom, independence, and pluralism in journalism on every continent… Journalism was his passion, and he fought for it with an unwavering belief.”

Reports indicate that from 1998 to 2007, Deloire wrote for the weekly magazine “Le Point” and also worked for the television networks “Arte” and the French channel (TF1).

Furthermore, Reporters Without Borders expressed appreciation for Deloire’s contributions during his tenure at the organization and extended condolences to his family.
