Cyprus goes to the polls on Sunday for local and European parliament elections

• The local elections are the first of their kind under the reformed system of local government, featuring elected district governors, mayors, deputy mayors, municipal councillors, mukhtars, and village councillors
• The island will also elect a total of six Members of the European Parliament
• Polls opened at 7am and will remain open until 6pm, with a one-hour lunch break between 12pm and 1pm
