Accident causes power lines to go down and temporary road closure in Edgewood
A single-vehicle crash caused a temporary road closure and power lines to go down in Edgewood on Saturday night.
Harford County Department of Emergency Services says the crash happened at about 7 p.m. near Willoughby Beach Road at Bauer Drive. The driver struck a pole which then knocked down power lines and caused Willoughby Beach Road to shut down, said Robert Royster, public Iinformation officer at Harford County Sheriff’s Office, in an emailed statement Saturday night.
Part of the vehicle’s roof had to be removed to free the driver. The driver was conscious and alert and was transported to a local medical center for precautionary measures, Royster said. The sheriff’s office did not provide any further details on the driver’s condition Saturday night.
Authorities contacted BGE, but it is unclear whether power has been affected. When deputies cleared the scene BGE was still working to restore the power lines, Royster said.
Willoughby Beach Road was opened at about 9 p.m. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
