- LHP Gabe Speier was put on the 15-day IL yesterday afternoon with inflammation to the rotator cuff in his pitching shoulder. RHP Collin Snider was called up from Class-AAA Tacoma in the corresponding move.

- In the top of the second of last night’s game against the Reds, Seiya Suzuki dropped a routine fly ball with two outs that resulted in three runs scoring, giving Cincinnati an early 4-0 lead. In the bottom of the second, Seiya hit a game-tying grand slam, and the Cubs eventually won the game 7-5.
Seiya Suzuki is the only MLB player in the modern era to make a 3-run error and hit a grand slam in the same game (let alone in the same inning).

- A mere day after the Orioles placed two of their starting pitchers on the IL with UCL injuries, the Padres are placing two of their own starters on the IL. Joe Musgrove is returning the IL with the same inflammation in his right elbow that had him sent to the IL in early May and only just recently returned from, and Yu Darvish is suffering from a groin strain.
