Watch Jose Mourinho’s crazy Fenerbahce unveiling as thousands of screaming fans light flares to welcome new manager
JOSE MOURINHO received a “crazy” reception as Fenerbahce unveiled him as manager to lit flares and thousands of screaming fans at a packed stadium
Wearing a club scarf, even the ex-Manchester United and Chelsea chief loojed awed as he was greeted with deafening chants amid incredible scenes in Turkey.
The club and Mourinho confirmed his appointment hours earlier on Sunday in a message that whipped up supporters for the frenzy to come.
The former Real Madrid manager, 61, said in a video message: “Merhaba [Hello] Fenerbahce fans. See you at Kadikoy and let’s start our journey together.”
Mourinho jetted in to Turkey after starring as a pundit for TNT Sports during Real’s 2-0 Champions League final win over Borussia Dortmund at Wembley.
The Portuguese has been out of the dugout since Roma sacked him in January.
The ex-Tottenham boss is understood to have agreed a contract until 2026, with an option for a further season.
One viewer said of the welcome for Mourinho: “Only a legend can have this effect on a Sunday afternoon in Türkiye. Jose Mourinho is a movement and a way of life.”
Another posted: “The stadium is crazy!”
And a third wrote: “Next season is going to be fun.”
