CT state police investigate serious truck, motorcycle crash in Griswold
State police were investigating a serious crash in Griswold that occurred early Saturday afternoon and left one man badly injured.
At about 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, police responded to reports of a two-vehicle crash in the area of 1089 Hopeville Rd. and found a pick up truck and a motorcycle that had collided, according to Connecticut State Police Troop E.
Investigators found that a motorcycle driven by a 55-year-old man from Jewett City was heading south, approaching the driveway of 1089 Hopeville Road, while a pick up truck was stopped at the top of the driveway waiting to turn left onto the road headed north, police said.
When the truck turned left and began to drive on the road, the motorcycle struck the truck’s left side, police said.
The motorcyclist was thrown from his bike and landed nearby. He suffered serious injuries and was rushed to William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, police said.
The driver of the pick up truck was not injured, police said.
