Classic motor once bought for just £12,500 by Mike Brewer on episode of Wheeler Dealers is now worth SIX-times more
A CLASSIC motor that was once bought by Mike Brewer for an episode of Wheeler Dealers for just £12,500 is now worth much, much more.
The lovely Fiat Dino Coupe 2400 – which famously came with a V6 Ferrari engine, typically used in the brand’s iconic Dino model – was picked up by the TV petrolhead on the show in 2012.
The 1970 Italian classic, finished in metallic blue and boasting an odometer with very low mileage on it, was picked up for a measly £12,500.
As it turns out, the reason it had so few miles on the clock was because it had been impounded by the Italian police since 1970.
After a few tweaks from Mike’s cost-host and spanner man Ed China, the Fiat was sold on for a small profit of just £15,500.
Some 12 years after this episode aired, the Fiat Dino Coupe 2400 (especially the 2400 version) has sky-rocketed in value.
Indeed, it seems the average price of one these days is around £72,000 – with an example on Cars & Classic currently available for nearly £77k.
That represents six-times what Mike paid for his example.
According to Piston Heads, the motor has risen in price because of its famous engine.
They wrote: “It shares the same Ferrari designed engine as the Ferrari Dino, but later cars like this one have an enlarged V6 engine that produces more power, a tougher five-speed gearbox and upgraded independent rear suspension.”
They summarise by urging enthusiasts to “buy one, before they eventually reach the heady values of most Ferrari-engined Ferraris.”
This comes as another much-loved classic car bought by Mike on the show for a bargain price has now quintupled in price.
