Pema Khandu: Music and sports lover who brought BJP to power in bordering Arunachal

Pema Khandu, a sports enthusiast and music enthusiast, has become a prominent leader in Arunachal Pradesh, particularly after a 2016 constitutional crisis that led to president's rule. Khandu was a strategist who brought the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to power for the first time in the northeastern state bordering China. He joined the Congress in 2000 and held various positions before winning a by-election uncontested from his father's constituency Mukto.
