Report: Spurs express interest in winger and he is open to joining the club
According to the print edition of Correio da Manha (as relayed by Sport Witness), Tottenham Hotspur have expressed an interest in Marcus Edwards, who is keen to rejoin his boyhood club this summer.
Back in March, A Bola claimed that the Spurs are evaluating a move to re-sign Edwards this summer, with Ange Postecoglou said to be keen on adding a top-class wide player to his squad.
The report said that Sporting Lisbon would listen to offers starting from €20m (£17m) for the silky left-footer and it was pointed out that the Lilywhites can sign him for a discount since they have a 35 per cent sell-on clause on the player.
Correio have now also confirmed that Spurs are now plotting a move to re-sign the winger, who left Hotspur Way back in 2018.
Marcus Edwards is open to returning to Tottenham
The report says that the 25-year-old now ‘wants to go home’ and now that he is ‘in the sights’ of Tottenham, he has ‘already expressed a desire’ to return to his former stomping ground.
The publication also points out that Ange Postecoglou and Spurs would be able to sign the Edwards on a discount this summer due to their sell-on clause and suggests that the Lions are expected to value the player at around €25m (£21.3m).
Spurs Web Opinion
One can understand why Edwards would be an appealing option for Spurs as the Premier League side need a right-winger who is capable of beating his man and the Sporting star’s homegrown status would also aid the club in fulfilling their requirements for the Europa League squad.
