Stacey Solomon shares genius hack to make a stylish coffee table – all you need is a couple of salad bowls
STACEY SOLOMON was back with another DIY hack.
In a previous episode of BBC’s Sort Your Life Out, the mother-of-five was making a coffee table.
Stacey was on hand to turn the unused salad bowls into a decorative coffee table[/caption] The coffee table was placed in the family’s living room[/caption] Stacey used epoxy glue to secure the two bowls together[/caption]She explained: “When somebody has an abundance of bowls, you can make so many things from them.”
Stacey was referring to a collection of wooden salad bowls the family she was helping, had.
She added: “You can buy bowls like this for super cheap, [add] a bit of MDF and all of a sudden, you’ve got a table!”
To make Stacey’s exact coffee table you need six wooden salad bowls of the same size.
To begin, she took two of the bowls, and “put some epoxy glue around the rim of one bowl”.
“Then get your other bowl, and place it directly on top,” she told viewers.
“It takes about 20 minutes for the glue to set.”
Once dry, fill in the gap between the two bowls with wood filler, and once dry, sand down until smooth.
Next, add a little bit of glue to the middle of the upside-down bowl, and place the third bowl on top – so the bases stick together.
Stacey advised: “You do want it to be perfectly in line, otherwise you’ll have a wonky table.
“And no one needs a wonky table do they?”
It’s now time to paint or stain the “legs” of the coffee table with a colour of your choice.
Just apply an even coat all over, then a finishing spray so it sets.
The presenter added: “To finish my coffee table, I’m cutting out a piece of wood for the top and I’m sanding it down.”
After staining or painting the top, she then glued the piece of wood to two legs – and she had a coffee table!
You can also make a side table if you prefer, just follow the same method but you will only need three bowls to make one leg.
If you want to try making this at home, there are many stores that sell wooden salad bowls.
What you need to make Stacey's coffee table:
Stacey's side table might not be the cheapest to make, but it is very creative!
- 6 wooden salad bowls, all the same size
- Epoxy glue
- Wood filler
- Sander or sandpaper
- Wood stain, varnish, or paint
- MDF board and cutter
IKEA has a 20cm bamboo bowl for £10, Asda sell an Acaica Wooden Serving Bowl for £10, wheres you can pick one up from Temu for £3.86.
Alternatively, if you don’t have wooden salad bowls to hand, TikTokkers have made side tables using small household bins, or even flower pots which they have glued together in the same way, and then added a top.

Stacey also has a really clever way of turning a wall in a child’s bedroom, into the ultimate safari world on the cheap.
