Royals vs. Padres Friday gamethread
Wacha’s revenge
The Royals are back home for a quick three-game homestand that includes just a series against the 30-29 Padres. The Padres are in Kansas City for just the third time in club history, with the teams splitting the previous six games in Kauffman Stadium.
Michael Wacha is well acquainted with the Padres, having pitched for them last season. He has given up two earned runs or less in each of his last four starts, going at least six innings each time. The Royals called up reliever Will Klein today to take the place of Daniel Lynch IV.

The Padres have won 8 of 13 and are coming off a home series win over the Marlins. Dylan Cease was their big off-season acquisition and he’s been terrific this season, although he has given up 12 runs and 4 home runs in 16 1⁄3 innings over his last three starts.
