ATV operator pleads guilty in crash that injured NYSP trooper

TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Rensselaer County man, who dragged a New York State Police trooper with his ATV, has pleaded guilty. Joseph Dominy, 19, was charged with assault.

The Rensselaer County District Attorney's Office said Dominy was illegally driving an ATV on Johnny Cake Lane in Sand Lake in March. When troopers tried to stop him, he sped away.

One of the troopers got stuck under the vehicle and was dragged for about 200 yards. The trooper suffered serious injuries and needed surgery.

Dominy faces seven years in prison when he's sentenced in August.
