PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – An armed suspect in a reported domestic dispute was shot and killed by authorities near Lebanon Thursday night after "aggressively" moving toward Linn County deputies, according to Oregon State Police.

At around 8:15 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the reported dispute involving a firearm at a home on Speasl Road.

OSP said a gun was fired at the home before authorities arrived.

On the scene, authorities found the suspect, identified as 49-year-old Gino Maroccia of Lebanon, outside the home armed with a rifle and said he “advanced aggressively” towards one of the deputies, according to OSP.

Officials said Maroccia did not comply with law enforcement demands to drop his rifle and continued to move closer to one of the deputies, who then “discharged his firearm and Maroccia fell to the ground and dropped the rifle."

Deputies provided emergency medical aid to Maroccia, but he was declared dead at the scene.

Oregon State Police are leading an investigation into the shooting.

Law enforcement members involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave, per protocol.

No authorities were injured during the incident.
