Genoa forward Albert Gudmundsson has handed Tottenham a blow by revealing that while he once dreamed of playing in the Premier League, his priorities have now changed.

Gudmundsson has emerged as one of the best attackers across Italian football over the last couple of years, with the versatile forward scoring 16 goals and providing five assists in the 2023-24 campaign (Transfermarkt).

The 26-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Spurs over recent months but the Lilywhites are far from the only club thought to be showing interest in the player, who is also rumoured to be on the radars of West Ham, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, Juventus and Napoli (La Repubblica via Calciomercato).

It has been alleged by various sources that Genoa are willing to sell their star man for €30m (£25.5m) this summer and that Napoli have already made concrete efforts to bring the Iceland international to the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium (Gazzetta dello Sport).

Albert Gudmundsson is not keen on Premier League move

While that asking price is unlikely to prove too much of an issue for Spurs, Ange Postecoglou’s side have now learnt that the player is not particularly keen on a move to England.

Gudmundsson has now told Gazzetta (as relayed by FC Inter News): “(I’ll leave) only for a crazy opportunity. If as a child I dreamed of the Premier League, now I have changed my mind. Soon Genoa and I will sit at the table and find the best solution for me and for them.”

These words from Gudmundsson certainly do not rule out a Premier League move but it is clear that moving to England is not his priority at the moment.

Tottenham might have already turned their attention to other alternatives if they got a feeling from their conversations with the 26-year-old’s entourage that he is not keen on the transfer.
