Report: Man United may look to beat Spurs to double deal if Pochettino joins
Football Insider have now said that Manchester United could look to push ahead with a move for Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah, both of whom are rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar.
Much has been said about Tottenham’s interest in Gallagher and Chalobah, with the Lilywhites recently backed by some outlets to make a double offer for the Chelsea duo (HITC).
If Football Insider’s latest update is to be believed, Spurs might face competition from Man Utd in their quest to sign both players.
The report points out that Mauricio Pochettino, who departed Chelsea recently, is one of the candidates being considered by Manchester United as a replacement for Erik Ten Hag.
Mauricio Pochettino likes Gallagher and Chalobah
The Argentine is described as a ‘serious and very interesting’ option for Man United chiefs and should he get the job, he could raid his former club for Gallagher and Chalobah.
It is said that the Chelsea midfielder and defender are the two most likely candidates Pochettino would pursue from his former club if he is given sufficient funds to make the moves.
The publication also points out that the Blues could be in desperate need to sell players before 30 June as they aim to avoid breaching the PSR.
Spurs Web Opinion
While Tottenham do offer Gallagher and Chalobah the chance to remain in London, the Pochettino connection would give Man Utd a huge advantage in the race for the duo if the former Spurs manager does indeed take over at Old Trafford.
