Train hits tree on tracks in CT; one person seeks medical attention
A southbound train carrying about 50 people on the Waterbury Branch came into contact with a tree, and safely came to a stop on the tracks near Field Road in Milford, a railroad spokesman said.
The collision just before 11 a.m. was on the Waterbury Branch, not on the main New Haven Line.
One person requested medical attention, according to Aaron Donovan, Deputy Communications Director for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
Metro North said in an email that, “the 11:48am train from Bridgeport to Waterbury is operating 20-25 minutes late because of an earlier train that struck a fallen tree near Milford.”
Metro North said in an update: “The 1:03pm train from Waterbury to Bridgeport is being replaced by bus service because of an earlier train that struck a tree in the track area at Milford.”
Donovan said Metro-North is investigating and hopes to have the train moving soon. The 11:48 a.m. train was being held in Bridgeport, he said..
