Mariners Game #54 Preview, 5/26/24: SEA @ WSH
The end of the gauntlet is in sight!
Well, the last few days haven’t been too fun, have they? With a losing road trip secured, the Mariners will look to salvage the final game of this three-game set in the nation’s capital, and Bryan Woo being on the mound should give them as good of a shot as anyone.

With a lefty starter on the mound for the Nats, Jonatan Clase gets his second start in left field since his return to the big club, and Seby Zavala will be behind the plate as is tradition with a day game following a night game - though after Cal Raleigh’s golden sombrero yesterday that culminated in a near-ejection, it’s likely for the best either way. In brighter news, Tayler Saucedo is back from the injured list, with Eduard Bazardo being optioned to Tacoma.
Patrick Corbin will get the ball for Washington, and he’s in the final year of a largely disastrous six-year, $140 contract he signed prior to the 2019 season - since 2021, he’s put up an ERA a touch under six and a FIP of 5.15. Given what happened the last time he faced Seattle, though, you’d be forgiven for not getting your hopes up too high. Sure would be nice to jump on him early!
