PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Oregon Shakespeare Festival has unveiled the performance lineup for its 2025 season, which is also the organization’s 90th anniversary.

Earlier this week, the nonprofit theater announced the upcoming season will serve as its “Homecoming”, in honor of Angus Bowmer founding the festival back in 1935.

“Our 2025 season takes us into the forest, out to the frontier, and into our dreams, celebrating our freedom to live our truth and rediscover ourselves,” Artistic Director Tim Bond said in a statement.

According to the director, the nine productions slated from March 7 to Oct. 26 of 2025 will “brilliantly highlight the pivotal moments when we face life-changing decisions and the importance of listening to our hearts.”

The season will start and finish in Ashland’s Angus Bowmer Theatre with a production of the Shakespeare play “Julius Caesar.” Festival organizers said the cast features all female and nonbinary performers.

“The Importance of Being Earnest,” the farcical comedy written by famous poet Oscar Wilde, is next on the lineup from March 8 to Oct. 25.

OSF’s Bond will direct “Jitney,” which runs from March 9 to July 20. It is the first production he has directed since being named artistic director in July 2023.

The Angus Bowmer Theatre will also hold Western play “Shane.”

In the Thomas Theatre, audiences can watch productions of “Fat Ham”, “As You Like It” and “Quixote Nuevo.”

“The Merry Wives of Windsor” and “Into the Woods” will both be performed in the Allen Elizabethan Theatre.

Tickets for OSF’s 90th anniversary season will go live later this fall.

“Angus Bowmer’s dream must have seemed impossible in 1935, but for nine decades our artistic home has defied all logic and gone through many incredible transformations,” Bond said. “What I love most about this company is that it celebrates our collective humanity, cultivates collaboration, creates community, and actually is ‘company.’ Cheers to this new season and the next 90!”
