Jeremy Ebobisse moved into a third-place tie with Landon Donovan on the Quakes’ all-time scoring list with a goal in the 18th minute, but Austin tied the match just before intermission and the teams played to a 1-1 draw Saturday night at PayPal Park.

It was the sixth time in nine all-time meetings the MLS teams have played to a draw. San Jose has won two of the other three meetings.

The Quakes  (3-10-2) snapped a two-game MLS losing streak and was coming off a U.S. Open Cup loss to Sacramento Republic FC.

Before an announced home crowd of 13, 744, the Quakes found the back of the net early when Ebobisse finished Cristian Espinoza’s cross in the 10th minute. It was Ebobisse’s 32nd goal with the Quakes. Chris Wondolowski scored 167 of his MLS record 171 goals for the Quakes.

Espinoza provided his ninth assist of the season, which is fourth in the MLS. His 65 career assists are an ongoing club record.

It was the ninth time in 15 MLS matches this season San Jose has led at some point during the match.

Austin tied the score in Brendan Hines-Ike’s header in the 45th minute. Austin (6-4-5), which opened the season with a five-game winless streak, is unbeaten with two wins in its last three matches.

The Quakes made Austin work for the road win. Goalie Brad Stuver had six saves and Hernán López hit the crossbar late in the second half.

San Joe returns to action Friday at Yankee Stadium against New York City Football Club. Kickoff is at 4:30 p.m. (Pacific) and broadcast on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
