Colorado Rapids 3-3 Minnesota United

COMMERCE CITY, CO–Colorado Rapids had to rally to snatch a point against Minnesota United. The Rapids came from 3-1 down to draw 3-3 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. The Rapids do drop to sixth in the West with LAFC winning earlier in the night while Minnesota retains second place based on wins and continues their impressive road record at 4-1-1.

The Loons got the scoring started in the eighth minute when Jeong Sang-Bin picked up a ball from Robin Lod and put it away to give the Loons the lead. Kevin Cabral equalized ten minutes later after the Loons were slow to pounce on a loose ball and Cabral was able to put it past Dayne St. Clair.

Minnesota restored their lead in the 24th minute as Tani Oluwaseyi scored off the rebound after the initial shot from Joseph Rosales was stopped by Zack Steffen. Jeong would get his second of the evening in the 33rd minute after Oluwaseyi sprung him in behind the Colorado defense and the finish would just go inside the post.

The Rapids would start their comeback in the 62nd minute. Djordje Mihailovic would send a flick-on header to Rafael Navarro who would score from close range to make it 3-2. The Rapids were awarded a penalty four minutes later after Omar Fernandez was tripped in the box, but St. Clair would stop the spot kick from Navarro. Then in the 71st minute, the Rapids would get the equalizer as St. Clair was unable to handle Cabral’s shot from close range.

Teemu Pukki had a chance for a winner after a bad Rapids turnover, but his shot from an acute angle went off the post and out. The result would be honors even.
