Report: Spurs to make a move for Premier League star after change of heart
The Guardian have backed Tottenham Hotspur to make a move for Nottingham Forest winger Callum Hudson-Odoi even though the North London club allegedly passed up on the chance to sign the player last summer.
Tottenham’s interest in Hudson-Odoi first came to light last week when Spurs insider Paul O’Keefe stated that the Lilywhites had set their sights on the 23-year-old ahead of the summer.
This was backed up a few days ago by TEAMtalk, who pointed out that although Nottingham Forest wish to keep hold of the former Chelsea man, they would have to consider offers for him due to FFP considerations.
The report suggested that Spurs are following the situation closely and could be ready to pounce on the player.
Tottenham have changed their mind since last summer
The Guardian have now provided more information about Spurs’ interest in Hudson-Odoi, revealing that Chelsea offered them the player to their London rivals last summer.
According to the report, Ange Postecoglou’s men were not overly keen on the signing at the time and preferred to sign Brennan Johnson from Forest instead, thus allowing the Midlands club to swoop for the England international.
However, the outlet suggests that the North London side have changed their mind about Hudson-Odoi after seeing his displays at the City Ground this season and now have him on their wishlist.
Spurs Web Opinion
Hudson-Odoi is a very Ange kind of winger as he is aggressive and is not shy of running at the opposition. Tottenham need a wide forward who is capable of beating his man and the Forest star fits the bill perfectly, given that he is also homegrown.
