Houthis announce attacks on three ships in the Red Sea

The Houthi group in Yemen, backed by the Islamic Republic of Iran, has announced attacks on three ships in the Red Sea, the Mediterranean Sea, and the Arabian Sea.

Yahya Saree, the military spokesperson for the Houthis, stated on Sunday, May 25, during a speech at a Houthi supporters’ demonstration in Sana’a that their forces attacked three ships: “Yannis” in the Red Sea, “Essex” in the Mediterranean Sea, and “MSC Alexandra” in the Arabian Sea.

He emphasized that these ships violated their decision to prohibit entry into the ports of “Occupied Palestine.”

Meanwhile, the ship’s commander claimed that there were no signs of such an incident occurring.

It is worth mentioning that the Houthi militia attacks supported by the Islamic Republic of Iran began in the Red Sea following Israel’s attacks on the Gaza Strip in support of the Palestinian people.

Previously, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that their forces had destroyed four Houthi drones in areas controlled by this group in Yemen.

According to reports, since October of last year, the Houthis in Yemen have conducted more than 100 drone and missile attacks against commercial ships in the Red Sea.

Meanwhile, these developments highlight the ongoing tensions and conflict in the region, particularly involving the Houthis and their supporters.

The situation underscores the broader geopolitical struggles and their impact on international maritime security, especially since the escalation of tensions in Palestine.
