Report: Tottenham receive huge blow in alleged pursuit of Riccardo Calafiori
Alfredo Pedulla has handed Tottenham Hotspur a blow by revealing that Riccardo Calafiori has made it clear that he wishes to remain in the Serie A, with the Bologna star thought to have rejected advances from two overseas clubs.
One can certainly understand why Spurs are interested in Calafiori, with the 21-year-old showing this season that he is equally adept at playing at left-back and centre-back, which are two positions where the Lilywhites need reinforcements.
Over recent days, a number of outlets have suggested that Tottenham have fallen behind in the race for the Italian defender and that Juventus are now in pole position to land the player (CalcioMercato).
This has now been backed up by Pedulla who has said that Calafiori has already snubbed interest from Chelsea and Bayer Leverkusen.
Riccardo Calafiori is not interested in Premier League move
The defender allegedly told both clubs that he wishes to continue his career in Serie A, thus giving the Bianconeri a big advantage.
In fact, Juve have reportedly begun talks over a deal for the Italy Under-21 international, with Bologna said to be sticking to their demands of €25m (£21.3m) plus bonuses.
The publication adds that the Old Lady might look to include some of their players in the deal in order to bring down the cost of the operation.
Spurs Web Opinion
With Calafiori now seemingly keen on remaining in Serie A and with Lloyd Kelly and Tosin Adarabioyo appearing to lean towards joining Newcastle, it remains to be seen which centre-back Tottenham will now turn their attention to.
