I learned a life-changing beauty hack at Guerlain – a fingertip of foundation helps me look flawless, placement is key
A BEAUTY guru has revealed a must-try hack they learned while working for the French brand Guerlain.
They said the makeup trick disguises imperfections while maintaining the illusion of natural skin.
They took to Reddit’s Beauty forum in response to a user asking people to share their “life-changing” tips.
Writing under the handle Unfair_Finger5531, they shared a lesson they learned while working at Guerlain.
“Apply the tiniest dot of foundation with your fingertips only to the spots you want to cover,” they said.
“Then use your fingers to spread the foundation from those spots until it blends in all over.
“You need, at most, a fingertip of foundation to get a flawless natural look.”
Foundations can be liquid, cream, or powder and are often used to make the complexion look even while covering perceived flaws.
Guerlain’s Terracotta Le Teint Healthy Glow Foundation has almost 22,000 likes on Sephora.
It is described as a “liquid-to-powder foundation” that provides medium coverage for up to 24 hours.
It is sold in a wide selection of colors for $63, with the brand recommending to apply in circular motions from the center of the face outward.
The Redditor revealed they also have a simple trick for achieving luscious locks.
“I’ve never before used a blow dryer!” they said.
“My simple tip is mousse. Mousse is underrated as hell.
“It can make your hair smooth, bouncy, straight, curly, whatever.”
They recommended using Finesse mousse or Milkshake leave-in conditioner mousse as both leave hair feeling “smooth and silky.”
“While my hair is still wet, I put a bunch of mousse on it and then brush my hair down, and when it dries my hair is like “VOLUME AND BODY OVER HERE,’” they said.

The advice comes after Beauty Bay’s skin expert Grace Day revealed the best foundation for mature skin.
She told The U.S. Sun even coverage can be achieved by using fingers or a sponge to apply a liquid such as MAC Cosmetics Studio Radiance Serum Powered Foundation.
She added that brushes can also be used to create a “flawless” base but it’s important to be mindful of blending brush strokes.
“Avoid powder foundations, as the product can collect in fine lines – emphasizing any natural wrinkles and making the base appear cakey,” Day said.
