I’m an interior designer and there’s a popular homeware trend Facebook mums love that I can’t stand – it’s a nightmare
AN interior designer has revealed the popular homeware trend that Facebook mums love, which she can’t stand.
So if you want to ensure that your home would impress a pro, then you’ll need to listen up.
The brunette beauty, who posts on social media under the username ‘Interior Design Bestie’, shared her “biggest ick as an interior designer.”
She said: “If you follow me for a while, you’ll know that family gallery walls are my ick of interior design.”
The interior expert explained that whilst some families will think that photos of their kids look cute, she thinks they look too messy.
The pro continued: “I just do not love them, reason being is they always seem a little scattered and dishevelled, and I feel like they always take away from the design, rather than add to it.”
The interior designer then shared her two tips on how she would style a gallery wall if she had one placed in front of her.
Not only did she recommended printing pictures in black and white, but she also explained that frames are key too.
She added: “First and foremost, I would do all the photos in black and white – they are more timeless and sophisticated in my opinion, so I’d always opt for those.
“My second tip, and this is most important – I would never have a gallery wall that does not have matted frames.
“Matte frames always give a more completed, luxurious look that has an overall balanced finish.”
BIG DIVIDE
The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @interiordesignbestie, has left social media users totally divided.
Whilst some couldn’t agree more, many were quick to disagree, with TikTok users expressing their thoughts in the comments.
One person said: “Totally agree. We have a gallery wall with musicians we love instead of a shrine of ourselves.”
Agree and agree

Another added: “Agree! My mother in law has a massive one and all I think is chaos and dust.”
To this, the interior expert replied: “Oh no, my nightmare.”
A third commented: “Agree and agree.”

Trends interior designers hate
IF you want to ensure that your home looks glam, here are the trends that interior designers can't stand.
NO YELLOW: According to Bilal Rehman, yellow paint in a bedroom is a big no no.
He said: “If you want everyone to know you’re a horse girl then yellow is perfect for you.”
SIGN OFF: Kelly Hoppen shared her honest thoughts on Live, Love, Laugh signs.
The interior pro explained: “Another gripe of mine – Live, Laugh, Love – those kinds of wooden things that sit on book shelves and floating shelves, that’s so 10, 12, 15 years ago.”
NO GREY YAY: Julie Provenzano explained that grey interiors have been overdone.
She stressed: “We took a good thing and we overdid it to the point that it now feels copy, paste, basic.”
